A Day in the Life of a Mompreneur

A peek into a typical day in my life as the CEO and Founder of Partake Foods. It's a crazy, juggling act to simultaneously run a startup and be a mama, but every day is a new adventure and full of joy! 6:00 AM | MORNING ME TIME Before the daily madness takes off, I take the first couple hours of the day to read up on articles, tidy up the house, do the laundry, and catch up on emails. The peace and quiet allows me to start the day productively and positively! This year I'm trying to practice more self care, so I try to squeeze in a run or pilates session at least a few times a week. I'm also signed up for a half marathon in April to restart a tradition I had with my college roomie. It was pushed aside as I became laser-focused on building Partake Foods, but this year I'm carving out some time for myself and focusing more on my well-being! 7:00 AM | RISE AND SHINE My husband Jeremy and our daughter Vivienne wake up, and it becomes a mad dash to get everyone ready and out the door! Every morning is a new struggle to get Vivi cleaned up, dressed, and fed. For breakfast, I keep it simple, yet healthy. We love fresh fruits over dairy-free yogurt and sometimes a few Carrot Oat cookies to top it off! Then before I know it, it's time to go, and I haven't even changed out of my pajamas yet! It's a never ending battle, but somehow it all magically comes together and we're finally off to school! 9:00AM | RUNNIN' AROUND TOWN We try to walk to school as often as possible - it's so refreshing, and our view of the NYC skyline is amazing! After I drop off Vivi, it's time for errands and meetings! Building a startup means I'm constantly running around, and my days are always different, which is a whirlwind of excitement and challenges! But most days consist of dropping off cookies to be shipped off, heading to local stores for in-store demos, and lots of meetings. Being constantly on the go, I've come to really fall in love with our city - it's diverse, yet authentic and filled with awesome local businesses and inspiring people. Jersey City has a charming, serene quality and the tranquilness really helps balance my mind when it's running a million miles per hour everyday! I love the small city feels, and combined with the convenience of being just a 10 minute drive away from Manhattan, I'm so happy to call this city home! 2:00PM | AFTERNOON PICK ME UP When I'm not running around town, you'll find me posted up at a local coffee shop piling through emails and managing the day to day operations and exciting projects like our upcoming launch into Whole Foods! Each day presents new challenges and it's such a grind, but I'm continuously inspired by the emails I've received from customers telling me about how our cookies have allowed them or their families to fully partake in delicious, nutritious snacks. What warms my heart the most though is hearing how proud and excited Vivi is when she sees "Mommy's cookies" on a store shelf - it makes all the hardship absolutely worth it! Plus, I've enjoyed some really delicious lattes along the way. 6:00PM | FAMILY TIME Ever since Vivi was diagnosed with multiple severe food allergies, it naturally made us more health conscious and mindful of what we eat. Our dinners typically consist of a whole grain like quinoa or brown rice, lean proteins or seafood, and seasonal veggies - simple and clean! This is my favorite time of the day because we get to catch up and spend some quality time together. I'm really trying to be more present this year - Vivi didn't sign up for a crazy, entrepreneur mommy, so I want to make sure she's fully supported and given the love and attention she needs and deserves! So evenings are now reserved for family time, except for the occasional events the come up (but trying to keep those to a minimum) because I much prefer ending the night with couch cuddles and some cookies!
